I celebrated my birthday at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar. It has been awhile since I have posted in my blog. Things have been busy, but I do believe Kura sharing. The food was excellent! I had a blast with the conveyor shooting items to my table and selecting items from the revolving line. If you deposit fifteen plates, a video style screen encourages you, you win a prize. The automated IPad style ordering system is very convenient table side. The selection of sushi is pretty expansive. For more information check out their website https://kurausa.com/

I am finally getting around to posting my annual year in food for 2018. These are dishes I made while cooking. Every year I cook at least 325 home meals. With each passing year cooking is a snap. Almost as fast as some people make a T.V. dinner. Well, maybe not that fast! I often wonder why so many chose to eat ready made or fast food when the home kitchen offers so much more quality options at a fraction of the cost. All it takes is a little effort, learning, time, and love. Could it be that is what we are losing these traits among the people? If we are isn’t that sad? Well, enough of being philosophical! Here are some of my favorite dishes for the year. As always there are many ethic dishes as I find many cultures besides American have tastier food. Bland is not an option for me. Bon Appetite!!! Ready to cook up in 2019.

One of my favorite Japanese foods is sashimi. Think of it as sushi without the rice. Japanese food is more than a way to fill one’s stomach. It is art and balance too. If you are in Houston,  the place to shop for Japanese groceries is Nippan Daido. You can learn to create your own Japanese food for 75% less than restaurant prices. Which is a great thing for those of us who do not have deep pockets.

The following plate I put together  has:

Amaebi- Sweet Shrimp, Tai- Red Snapper, Saki-Salmon, Maguro-Tuna, Saba-Mackeral, Tako-Octopus, Ika-Cuttlefish, Fried Quail Egg, Radish, Carrot, Cucumber, and Avocado.

Top left bowl- Miso Soup
