To the east of Houston is a small freshwater reservoir that is stocked with mainly bass, crappie, and red-eared sunfish (aka-shellcracker) because they like cracking snail shells. The lake is also home to numerous mammals, birds, and reptiles. It’s a beautiful place especially for those looking for a no-wake lake (slower than 7 m.p.h.) for paddling kayaks and canoes. I have been fishing it for over 40 years and find the trips their quiet, peaceful, pleasant, and enjoyable. Here are a few photos that I shot last time out capturing the lakes beauty. The Texas State Aquarium located in Corpus Christi, Texas live up to it’s name. It is as big as Texas, well, not quite. The exhibits represent many areas of sea life. The purpose is not only to share these animals with us, but also to protect them which I love. I have visited many aquariums and I must say this one was really awesome. It allowed me the opportunity to have fun with my camera which I also love. I saw many new species I have not seen in other aquariums. Here are a few of my photos from this adventure. A macro photo of one of my many red Cherry Shrimp and an Amano Shrimp. Red Cherry Shrimp breed easily in tank and do wonders on algae.

This is one cool catfish that I have always loved. It’s amazing that we house them in aquariums. Down in South America they are as common as channel or blue catfish in America.

Not to long ago, I posted a photo of the Pink-Necked Green Pigeon. It is a colorful bird. It’s aquatic rival is the Mandarin Fish. It has to be the most colorful fish around.

This photo was taken by unknown photographer.
