It’s always nice to walk along a path and run into a reptilian friend. It makes for great photo opportunities and observation. This young, or possibly female gator, was warming in the Texas sun along Elm Lake at Brazos Bend State Park.

You literally saw this up close…no safety fences?
I have been around gators all my life. I have touched them by the tail a few times, but I must admit this is dangerous. They can turn suddenly and cause you to run like a mad man or they can run for the water. 99% of the time they run for the water. The big ones are more dangerous because of size, but the small ones are quick and agile. The small ones scare me more. I regularly photograph them with 30 feet safety distance. Keep an eye out for another gator photo. I will show you how close I normally get,
Okay, I’m watching and enthralled.
The post is up.
