In, Texas, you can stir up quite a scene talking about who’s BBQ is #1. Being a native Texan, I’ve eaten a lot of BBQS over the last 50 years. Many are excellent places because the competition is stiff. You either BBQ excellent or you go out of business eventually. What might be #1 to one person is average to another. Sort of like coffee, beer, or iced tea. With that said, SALT LICK BBQ is my new #1. I loved the environment of the restaurant in Driftwood, Texas in the Texas Hill Country. The service was exceptional and the BBQ over-the-top. I could go on and on about it, but I’ll let you read their history and learn more about them at their website link. https://saltlickbbq.com/driftwood/

Inside this mega-museum there are thousands of Texas treasures that chronicle how the great Lone Star State began and is currently growing. The museum is three stories tall and several thousand square feet. During my visit, I spent over six hours and did not get to read or study every detailed display due to the vast collection of history. The museum boasts the Star Cafe which has great lunch time food choices. It is also located in the heart of downtown Austin close to the Texas Capitol and The University of Texas. I’m no politician, but if I were, I would require all Texas school children to visit. It would be a great use of funding in my opinion. Six Flags over Texas has much more meaning than the name of an amusement park. Thank you for visiting my blog. Here are a few photos from my visit.
