I heard about a restaurant that has served customers for 150 plus years. That is amazing in it’s own right. Being a fan of the superfood Oysters I learned Dupuy’s in Abbeville, Louisiana have some of the best. As I stepped in to this classic restaurant the scent of seafood and steak hit my nose like a beautiful food potpourri. The environment was classic Cajun and the service was excellent as I was welcomed like family. I ordered the Oyster combo with salad and shared white chocolate bread pudding. My plate came with Grilled Oysters, Fried Oysters, Oysters Rockefeller, and Sweet Potato Fries. The other dishes served were a monster foot long Shrimp Po-Boy and Oysters Rockefeller and Oysters de Ville. Everything was excellent and Dupuy’s will always be a stop for me when in Abbeville. Must Be Heaven is a sandwich, pie, and ice cream shop in downtown Brenham, Texas. I arrived on a weekend and I knew I was about to encounter something great because the line for service was stretching outside the restaurant. The workers and service staff take great pride in providing you with the best experience and food possible. The interior has a lot of antiques and historical items and the aromas summon a foodie like the pied piper.  The Reubens, sausage sandwiches, and sawdust pie are HEAVENLY! For more information visit http://mustbeheaven.com/

Here are some photos I took at the restaurant. I highly recommend it.

I am reflecting on how much I love Casa Rio Mexican Restaurant in San Antonio,Texas. For over 25 years, I have been enjoying the Casa Rio El Rio Dinner. The dinner starts off with nachos and guacamole salad. I love the cheese on the nachos, and the little bit of hot sauce that tops the guacamole off. It is a nice added touch that makes the dinner special to me. The top shelf margaritas are also an added touch that makes one smile and easily take in the people watching along the river.

Next comes the hot plate. The hot plate consists of a well-seasoned tamale, a big tasty taco, a cheese enchilada oozing with the best sauce and cheese, chile con carne that is so flavorful, and Mexican rice and beans.

I think the photos speak volumes, but you will never know until you give it a try. This is Tex-Mex at it’s best!

Just to the North of Houston is a small town called Conroe. Conroe is home to Lake Conroe, one of the best fishing and recreational lakes about 40 miles north of Houston. Right off Hwy 105, in Conroe, is one of the best catfish restaurants in the state of Texas. This restaurant is called Vernon’s Kuntry Katfish. http://www.kuntrykatfish.com/

Not to be long on words, I will let the photos do the talking, but I can tell you this, you will not find better prices, and better catfish anywhere in Texas. The green tomato relish and hushpuppies are out of this world. Oh, and the waitresses and staff, fantastic!

When I lived in Huntsville, Texas, I would make it a point to stop by New Zion Missionary Baptist Church for BBQ.  Even today, I make the 70 mile trek from Houston. The workers, filled with the spirit of the Lord, are always helpful and friendly.  The plates are served up with generous portions and the meat is always tender. You will not find a website, nor a menu online, because the place is small, but the BBQ is SUPER and the staff is OUTSTANDING! Then again if you’re looking for a modern, upscale feel, and urban vibe, you might hate it. This place if for spirited people with a down home love for BBQ.

The hours- Open Thur-Sat 11 am-6 pm

Location- 2601 Montgomery Rd, Huntsville, Texas 77341

Phone number- 936-294-0884.

New Zion Missionary Baptist Church which I call, “The Home Of The Immaculate BBQ.”

Houston has a restaurant that can make your feel as if your right home in Southern Louisiana Cajun Country. This restaurant is known as Ragin Cajun. Ragin Cajun serves some of the best po-boys, red beans and rice, boudin balls, gumbo, etouffe, jambalaya, crawfish, shrimp, blue crabs, and oysters on the half-shell around. The accordion’s sing out of the speakers as Cajun music is played.  The tables inside are linked together, so you get a community feel, and often find yourself talking to complete strangers. Unless your related to the Scrooge, your tongue should dance to the flavors of Ragin Cajun. For more information visit http://www.ragin-cajun.com/

When I am having one of those days were I feel grain, nuts, fruits, yogurt, and salad are not going to fulfill my hunger, I head over to THIS IS IT SOUL FOOD restaurant.

THIS IS IT cooks a variety of dishes that will fill a stomach to satisfaction, and make a heart feel as warm as when momma says,”I love you.”

My favorite combination is oxtails, candied yams, cabbage, and bread pudding for desert. I can never go wrong. You will never go wrong either, if you enjoy the flavors of Houston’s THIS IS IT. For more information, a menu, or history, visit http://www.houstonthisisit.com/
