One of my favorite hot sauce places is the Tabasco Sauce Factory in Avery Island, LA. Why would that be? I love hot sauce and I LOVE Tabasco. Upon touring one will learn the secrets of making Tabasco Hot Sauce which takes over three years. You will learn that it is shipped worldwide and bottles are labeled in different languages. In fact, China is one of the largest foreign importers of Tabasco.
There are free samples of jalapeno ice cream and hot pepper soda that you cannot get anywhere else. There is a country store to purchase anything Tabasco, and you’re in the heart of Cajun country. What could not be better than that? Oh! And Jungle Gardens is right next door. http://junglegardens.org/

And all around the surrounding area one will see fields of sugar cane.

Lone Star Flight Museum

Having a hobby as a musician, I am often privileged to special parties and events. A few years back, I took several photos at the Lone Star Flight Museum http://www.lsfm.org/index.html in Galveston, Texas while playing for the U.S.S. Texas Submarine Commissioning party for the United States Navy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Texas_%28SSN-775%29
The museum has a great collection of vintage war planes. If you want to do a draw down on your wallet, they also offer plane rides in a few selected aircraft.
So if you’re in Galveston, Texas, make a trip over to the museum, and learn a little about the history of flight.

Texas State Railroad

One of the most relaxing enjoyable rides is on a train. In the East Texas piney woods, between Rusk and Palestine, we have the Texas State Railroad. https://www.texasstaterr.com/
If you are ever clamoring for a weekend trip from Houston, I highly recommend riding the train through the woods.

Baby Mockingbirds Nesting

These baby mockingbirds are in an orange tree with plenty of thorns. I doubt anything will ever eat them, as I have watched the mother, and father return every year to the same nesting location. I had to be quite careful not to get cut on thorns to get this macro photo.

Gulf Coast Toad

When I was a young boy we would see these toads all around Houston. I enjoyed seeing them when they were mating in bar ditches, leaving long strands of eggs, that would turn to thousands of tadpoles. They are not as common today due to the destructive forces of man. However, they seem to be strong in some areas.
I took this photo at night as the Gulf Coast Toad was hopping on a sidewalk.
