The San Antonio Botanical Garden is a place that was well-thought out for those who like walking and viewing a variety of garden like environments in a peaceful setting. There are exhibits that cover urban farming, Japanese gardens, hill country gardens, rose gardens, tropical gardens, cactus and succulent gardens, fern gardens, ponds, Texas native trails, and bird watching blinds. There is not as much canopy in Zilker Botanical Garden in Austin which I wrote about last year, but there are ample spots to re-hydrate and the tropical green house has air conditioning. Even though it was 100 degrees I had a blast taking hundreds of photos. Here are a few and I hope you make a trip to the San Antonio Botanical Garden to enjoy it’s peace and beauty. The Zilker Botanical Garden is what I envision if I were in Heaven with its herb garden, prehistoric garden, cactus and succulent garden, butterfly garden, rose garden, oriental garden, green garden, and pioneer village. I have been many places and for a $2 entrance fee I thought it to be of one of the best values ever. There are so many excellent photo opportunities in the garden areas. It is peaceful, relaxing, and beautiful. I walked it during a day that had 102 degree temperatures and felt totally comfortable. This garden will show you how important canopy cover is to maintaining cool temperatures on the ground even during extreme heat. As a native born Texan, I am proud of my state flower and look forward to it every spring. Traveling to smaller places away from urban sprawl, I usually encounter another favorite in search of bluebonnets, the Texas Longhorn. Let’s not forget Indian Paintbrushes, Buttercups, Winecups, Phlox, and various other wildflowers too. Then after a day of traveling the reward of a beautiful sunset. Peace! What more could one ask for? These photos were taken in the Ellinger, New Ulm, Industry,  and Welcome areas. Enjoy!

Spring time is a beautiful time of year. We come out of the freeze of winter and new life sprouts all around us. Birds sing, baby animals are born, and spring blossoms abound. Here are a few photos of Spring tree blossoms. I know one to be Redbuds, but the other three trees I am not sure of. If you know, please share in comments section.

Macro photos always capture detail that so many of us just pass on a daily basis. The color of the world around us is so bright and cheerful, yet many miss it. Enjoy the beauty if these flowers!

The Ladybird Johnson Wildflower center north of Austin in the Texas Hill Country is a peaceful, beautiful, refuge, and a photographer’s dream land. Here are several photos I shot during my recent visit. I hope you are moved by them as much as I am. Thank you for visiting my blog.
