The food and service here were exceptional. The politics fun and humorous. I’ve never in my life had a burger bun branded. Trump Burger exemplifies everything that is great about America. If a person comes to America, works hard, has an idea, contributes to a business employing others, that person makes America great. “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.” John F. Kennedy, Democrat. Great food! I’ll be back! If you’re in Bellville, Texas, give it a try.

Salt Lick BBQ 2023

In, Texas, you can stir up quite a scene talking about who’s BBQ is #1. Being a native Texan, I’ve eaten a lot of BBQS over the last 50 years. Many are excellent places because the competition is stiff. You either BBQ excellent or you go out of business eventually. What might be #1 to one person is average to another. Sort of like coffee, beer, or iced tea. With that said, SALT LICK BBQ is my new #1. I loved the environment of the restaurant in Driftwood, Texas in the Texas Hill Country. The service was exceptional and the BBQ over-the-top. I could go on and on about it, but I’ll let you read their history and learn more about them at their website link. https://saltlickbbq.com/driftwood/

Bob Bullock Texas History Museum 2023

Inside this mega-museum there are thousands of Texas treasures that chronicle how the great Lone Star State began and is currently growing. The museum is three stories tall and several thousand square feet. During my visit, I spent over six hours and did not get to read or study every detailed display due to the vast collection of history. The museum boasts the Star Cafe which has great lunch time food choices. It is also located in the heart of downtown Austin close to the Texas Capitol and The University of Texas. I’m no politician, but if I were, I would require all Texas school children to visit. It would be a great use of funding in my opinion. Six Flags over Texas has much more meaning than the name of an amusement park. Thank you for visiting my blog. Here are a few photos from my visit. Rio Vista and The San Marcos River

When a hot Texas summer is upon us one of the best places to relax and cool off is the San Marcos River. Here you will find refreshingly cool 70-degree water year-round. Floating down the river you will hear the sounds of birds singing and may spot a few you’ve never seen before. You will see wild Texas rice growing in the river where it grows nowhere else. You will see fish swimming and turtles sunning. It’s a peaceful and relaxing place. Let’s care for it so it’s around for many more generations. Here are a few photos from my recent visit. Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Yeehaw! What a blast! Thanks, Dolly! The North versus the South in battle of observation and participation along with a nice hot meal. Everything about the stampede was a fun, energizing, and the performers were so skilled with their horses and other animals. I hope to see the show again sometime. Here are a few of my photos and a link to learn more about Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede. https://dpstampede.com/
Showboat Branson Belle 2022

The Showboat Branson Belle is a paddle-wheeler and dinner theater on Table Rock Lake in Branson, Missouri. The ship offers outstanding views of the lake while cruising. Inside there is a huge theater for the shows and to have dinner. I can only speak for my experience, but it was excellent. The food came out hot and tasty and the entertainment included comedy, magic, and music. Would I do it again? Absolutely.

Titanic Museum 2022

While in Branson, Missouri, I visited the Titanic Museum. It was surreal to step back into time and feel the iceberg, the cold air on the deck, see the grand entry, and feel the angles of the ship as it sank into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. There is so much to read and see on the ship. I would allow two hours or more to tour this wonderful museum. Here are a few photos from my visit and a link for more information. https://titanicbranson.com/
Walmart Museum Bentonville, Arkansas 2022

It was a great pleasure visiting the Walmart Museum, which is free, this is the location that started what we know as Walmart today. The museum also has a wonderful ice cream shop to purchase treats. Walmart has always been a favorite stop of mine because of the selection of products they offer and the friendly helpful associates especially in towns where options are few. Here are a few photos from my visit and a link for more information. https://www.walmartmuseum.com/content/walmartmuseum/en_us.html
Pig Trail Scenic Byway Arkansas

There are many roads in the United States, and many will be missed because of freeways or flying across America. However, if you go and search, there are many beautiful sights and places to drive. The Pig Trail Scenic Byway is one of those roads. It’s known as Arkansas 23. I found it as pleasant a drive as the Smoky Mountains or the Blue Ridge Mountains. This route is known as the Pig Trail because many Arkansas Razorback fans travel it to Fayetteville for games. Wooo Pig Sooie! Enjoy the photos! See you on the road.
Thorncrown Chapel, Eureka Springs, Arkansas

On my recent road trip, I was able to visit the Thorncrown Chapel which was designed by E. Fay Jones who apprenticed under the famous Frank Lloyd Wright. The design was inspired by Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, France. With all the glass windows it leaves itself to a perfect spot for prayer and weekly Sunday morning services. I found great peace and beauty there. A place where you can truly feel the holy spirit.
