On my recent road trip, I was able to visit the Thorncrown Chapel which was designed by E. Fay Jones who apprenticed under the famous Frank Lloyd Wright. The design was inspired by Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, France. With all the glass windows it leaves itself to a perfect spot for prayer and weekly Sunday morning services. I found great peace and beauty there. A place where you can truly feel the holy spirit.

On a recent road trip, I took time to visit this beautiful chapel. It’s located in Bella Vista, Arkansas up in the Quachita Mountains. The chapel was designed to celebrate God and his creations. The views are spectacular as it is made of glass so that you see the forest and mountains. If you see God in nature, you will feel right at home inside this magnificent piece of architecture. Recently, I listened to my pastor preach a great sermon on Romans 8:5-13. The mind-set on flesh or the World does not have the spirit, and the one set on God does.

Let’s take a look at the contrasts between the two.

On the flesh:         On God:

Death                           Life

War                              Peace

Pleasing self             Pleasing God

When you have the spirit, Christs dwells within you, you belong to him, and you spirit is alive with righteousness. When the spirit has you, you put to death the deeds of the flesh which is mortification.

When you are led by the spirit of God, you have Aspiration.

It is tough in our modern world to always be in the spirit. We struggle everyday, but with God, we know that he is with us in our fight.

With God, we do not fear. That is the result of walking in the spirit. As my preacher stated, if you have fear, you are not a Christian. Romans 8:15.

Recently, I went to a presentation by Dr. Hugh Ross, astrophysicist. Dr. Ross presented scientific data that points to the existence of God. He explained that he came to God based on this verse 1 Thessalonians 5:21 Test everything, but hold onto what is good. He explained that this is the scientific method. It is written in the Bible. I could not agree more, because science is the testing of a hypothesis. Science and God should never be enemies in my opinion.

One of the leading Atheists, Lawrence Krauss stated there must be a God. We know that during the Cambrian period we had a sudden rise in land masses and oxygen levels rose to sustainable levels for life. This coincides with Genesis and what God explained to us happened in the seven days of earth’s development. The book of Job also covers Earth’s development in chapters 37,38, and 39. Interestingly enough, we now know that scientifically Darwin did not get it right. Richard Dawkins even agrees that most vertebrates were found during the Cambrian period. All of this is based on the most recent science. God is allowing us to discover that he is real and that he created the universe.

The Bible is 4 for 4 and 10 for 10 on predicting accurate events regarding Earth. The Bible has over 200 scientifically accurate positions regarding the Earth. The probability of this happening without divine inspiration would be 10 to the 300th power. The Bible is the only historically accurate book regarding Earth’s development and it was written pre-science. The science of Christianity stands up with evidence against the most hostile community.

Many times, I hear Christian believers say, “Oh, just pray about it.” In today’s world, we see much strife, stress, drugs, abuse, crime, corruption, human trafficking, etc. This behavior is growing exponentially,  along with people giving up on learning, and actually joining the wrong mix.

When you mix today’s problems with the lack of learning, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand society has major problems.

Christian friends prayer is worthless without works. You can pray all day in the middle of a desert, “Dear Lord, please send me food.” There is a great chance you will die of starvation. The same goes for society. If we sit idle, without rising up, to counter the trend of degradation, society as we know it will die too.

James 2: 14-17 : 14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

As I looked outside this evening, I noticed the doves starting to settle in, fluffing their feathers, and preparing for the 19 degree overnight temperatures. This is really cold for Houston, Texas. It got me to thinking,”Look at them! They will sit overnight, fluffed, warm, and survive. God provides a way for them.” We are much more valuable, so don’t worry. Your needs will be covered. It may look as if all hope is gone, but I tell you just as these birds survive, so will you in your toughest times. Never lose faith!

Matthew 6:26

New International Version (NIV) 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

All major religions to my knowledge believe that man evolved out of dust or clay. Science has now confirmed this hypothesis.

What is the chance of a man fulfilling eight verifiable prophecies over his lifetime? Ten to the seventeenth power. If one were to cover the State Of Texas with that many silver dollars, it would be two feet deep in silver dollars all across Texas. Now what if they said,”There is a cross somewhere on one of those coins. Your chances of being blindfolded, and finding that silver dollar is the same odds. So what does this all mean?

There are eight verifiable prophecies that cannot be refuted by science, nor man, regarding Jesus’s life. The chances of all these prophecies happening to one man are ten to the seventeenth power. Amazing stuff!

1. His place of birth

2. Time of his birth

3. Manner of birth

4. The Betrayal

5. Manner of Death

6. People’s reactions

7. His piercing

8. His burial

Jesus is our good news. He is the news we all need that can brighten our lives and hearts. He can turn all the suffering that man has created around. A Jew might argue that nobody has ever sat on the throne, because of a curse in the lineage of Abraham, but Jesus was made clean when he was born of a virgin mother Mary. Irrefutable evidence!

Now some might say that Christians are the cause of all the World’s problems. I challenge you to hang with a church, or group of active Christians for six months. and see if you come to that conclusion on your own. I’ll bet God calls you home to be his warrior for change.

If a man knew that apricots cured all cancer, how would you feel if he kept it a secret from mankind? I would say most, if not all, would hate him.

So as a Christian, no I am not perfect by any means, I state that Jesus cures, heals, and forgives everyone who turns to him. He turns the light on in your life even during the darkest of struggles.

If we can share that message with everyone, the World will be a better place.

The Fruit of The Fall

For it will make you smarter.

Have An Affair

Sitting at church today, I listened to my pastor read Solomon 2:15 which states,”Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom.” He referenced this passage to stress how little things in a marriage can cause ruin, if we do not catch them, just as the little foxes cause ruin in the vineyard. What are these little foxes?

1. Romance is not important– Romance is important and so is sex, but it is not everything. This analogy was used. Eggs are good plain, but they taste a bit better with salt. A little salt makes that egg tastes so much better, but if you drown it in salt it is ruined. If someone asked you, “What did you eat for breakfast? Would you answer,”Salt?”So with marriage, a little romance or sex every now and then, keeps the flames burning. However, if you just base your marriage on sex, it will be like that over salted egg. Ruined. If you have no romance or sex, it will be like a plain egg with no salt.

2. Good marriage is luck- We have all heard it before. “Man you are so lucky to have your spouse.” Marriage is anything but luck. Marriage takes hard work from both parties, because let’s face it, having the same person around all the time is not always fun. The following verse points to this ideal. Proverbs 4:14 “Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty, but from the strength of an ox come abundant harvests.” So there you have it. If nobody is around just like no ox in a manger, there is no pooh-poo, but if they are around, you will have poo-poo. All marriages have poo-poo at times. The plus is abundant harvests and strength with your mate.

3. Love is a feeling- Love is not a feeling. It is something you do by listening and understanding your partner. You show your love on a daily basis by treating your wife/husband like a guest in your home. Everyone knows how they react when they have guests. They clean, prepare, cook, and offer them just about anything to make them feel welcome. Do this for your wife/husband.

So practice the biblical principles of love, romance, sex, and work hard at having a great marriage. Have an affair with your spouse!
