When We Die
They say I am too low,
I say they are too high.
One thing is certain.
The grave is waiting,
When we die.

Shifting Sands
2014 Albert Moyer, Jr.
For the sands are shifting
In an incomprehensible way.
Our moral fabric stripped away.
People talk, walk, and wonder,
” Why are people suffering?”
They cry in agony from the pain.
Their salaries are low,
And the violence is high.
Yet they fail to look up,
And humble themselves to the most high.
For the reprobate mind,
Their eyes are blind.
For they will never see the signs.
They run crazy like ants,
From a mound that has been kicked,
Listening to false prophets,
Only to be tricked.
For their pain is real,
It cannot be denied.
Yet it could all change,
If they ask the Lord,
To be on their side.
Vanity
In her 20’s she was quite the flame
Her black book had many men’s names
She ate the finest food and caviar
And traveled to lands very far
She tossed her friends about like dirty laundry
And many left because they didn’t think it was funny
But one day all things started to change
She realized she was 40 and had no game.
Now as time passed her value declined
Because she had no more looks
And not much in her mind
Love she wanted so desperately
But it was killed by her vanity

Frenemies
A party is available. They are sure to come.
They want what you have, but share with no one.
They want your ear, as if you’re Dr. Phil,
Yet they will not help you, even if you are ill.
Their time bank is full, so full of themselves,
That when you ask for a little, you get shelved.
They smile and say, ” How wonderful you are.”
Yet privately describe you, as if you are tar.
They do their best to zap the good from you,
And leave your feeling, as if you have the flu.
You need their help, but when the time comes,
They leave you dry, so they can have fun.
When you confront them about how you feel,
These people will scream, ” No big deal. “
So when they fail to listen, it is time to break.
There is no need for toxic relations for heaven’s sake.

I Wonder
Sometimes I wonder,
Where you are?
Sometimes I remember,
How you felt.
Sometimes I long,
To kiss you again.
Sometimes I see you,
In my dreams.
Sometimes I ask myself,
Why did we part?
Sometimes I think,
Will our paths cross again?
Sometimes the mind wanders,
And while it wanders,
I wonder.

It Is Your Fault!
I sit and do nothing.
It is your fault.
I can’t find a job.
It is your fault,
The government will not help me.
It is your fault.
My neighborhood sucks.
It is your fault.
My poverty is my struggle.
It is your fault.
I don’t care about anything.
It is your fault,
I hate your God.
It is your fault.
So tell me angry person.
What is your fault?

My Momma
A free verse poem dedicated to animals
My momma loves me.
My momma cares for me.
My momma feeds me.
My momma doesn’t diet.
My momma doesn’t need drugs.
My momma isn’t fashionable.
My momma doesn’t need electronics.
My momma knows where I am.
My momma’s family is close by.
My momma says that perhaps
Mankind can learn from her,
and all the other animals, because
The only things she fears is them.
The destruction they cause in
The environment and the world.
My momma says mankind is supposed
To be higher order thinkers, but
The animals seem to be smarter.
My momma says that mankind is suffering
because of their choices.
If only mankind could learn from
My momma.
Magical Woman
Her hair is dark
Her eyes brown
She’s fabulous
To be around
Her skin is smooth
And her lips full
The brain she has
Is her best tool
When your’re down
She’ll lift you up
Inside you will bubble
Like Seven-Up
When she’s close
She feels so warm
Inside of me
I feel transformed
She’s a magical woman
That I know
For in my veins
Her love flows

Sweet Tooth
Lollipop sweetness
Leaves me so breathless
Midget sweet flavorful roll
Tootsie you pleasure my soul
Kit Kat scrumptious
Skittles fruity sweet
Kisses can’t be beat
Snickers caramel peanut
The Almond Joy coconut
M & M’s a treat
Peanut Butter Cups
Candy I worship
The stars are up Milky Way
Whopper malt balls save the day
Sweet tooths they gossip
