Nestled deep in the Texas Hill Country is a spectacular oasis of Cypress trees, gardens, springs, and waterfalls. This place is Heaven on Earth and it soothes the soul with all the peace and tranquility it brings. This place is known as Krause Springs. Here are a few photos that capture it’s splendor! I hope you enjoy them and make a visit to Krause Springs someday.

Nestled about 90 miles west of San Antonio is one of Texas’s best state parks. It was once a secret, but no longer as the crowds can get quite large on weekends and holidays. It has many species of wildlife, excellent trails, giant Cypress trees, and the famous crystal clear Frio River for a variety of water activities. Here are a few photos from my recent visit. Enjoy! Recently I went on a trip to Aquatica in San Antonio. I had the opportunity to visit Roa’s Aviary within the park which is a tropical oasis filled with beautiful birds. It was a real challenge to get these photos especially with a Samsung phone and little zoom. I always say the equipment is not as important as the person behind it. The following birds are represented Sun Conure, White-Crested Turaco, Superb Starling, Palawan Mynah, Indian Ring Neck Parrot, Guira Cuckoo, Black Naped Fruit Dove, Lady Ross’s Turaco, Crested Coua, Red-Crested Turaco, Guinea Turaco, Laughing Kookabura, Kenyan Crested Guinea Fowl, Greater Blue-eared Starling, Hawaiian Goose, Inca Tern, Roseatte Spoonbill, Northern Red-Billed Hornbill, Plush Crested Jay, Bantam Chicken, Blue-Crowned Pigeon, and one unknown brown bird in trees.

Recently, I took time to travel deep southern Louisiana.  A great stop was Palmetto Island State Park in Abbeville, Louisiana. http://www.crt.state.la.us/louisiana-state-parks/parks/palmetto-island-state-park/

This park is a beautiful place with an ecology like none other. The cabin accommodations are really nice and the staff are exceptional.

Here are some photos from the trip. Enjoy!

Deep Ellum is an urban oasis just East of downtown Dallas, Texas. All throughout the area one will find eclectic shops and independent business along with excellent food. While visiting, I took a few photos of the area. Have a look, enjoy, and make your own visit. I promise you will not be disappointed.
