The Houston Independent School District recently opened the flagship Kinder High School For The Performing and Visual Arts in downtown Houston, Texas. This high school is a premier public school for students who are visual artists, dancers, actors and actresses, musicians, and creative writers. You will be hard pressed to find a public school that is this awesome anywhere in the world. Here are a collection of photos from the recently opened school. You will see the theater and two smaller practice theaters, library, relaxing area, exercise room, dance room, stage creation room, costume room, commons area, print making room, control area, orchestra room, some night snapshots, and a little history just to name a few. If you plan on attending, practice your craft for auditions, because as little as 10% make the cut to attend this great school. All photos 2019 Albert Moyer, Jr. Photography

Central Market Houston

My father recently passed and one of the greatest gifts he ever taught me was to eat well. Whether it was a simple pot of beans, or the finest steak, my dad always stressed that good food was one of the many secrets to living a great life. Dad would by a $5 pair of sneakers for a $15 steak. He had his priorities straight. Food before anything else. The Central Market in Houston was one of my dad’s favorite grocery stores. It has just about anything a person could want in the way of food. Rarely do people sit around a table today and enjoy a great meal as a family. It is a dying tradition that in my opinion is causing many of us to die. Family meals and the bonding and sharing that go along with them are vitally important. I decided to shoot a few photos to share of my dad’s favorite grocery store. The purpose is two fold. One to is to promote this great place Central Market and two to stress the importance of great eating and spending time together as a family. If you do not know how to cook, no worries, their are plenty of YouTube videos and cookbooks. Do learn how to cook and make food a part of the great times of life.

Hugo’s Mexican Restaurant

I have eaten so many Mexican dishes in my lifetime and I must say the food at Hugo’s Mexican Restaurant exceeded all my expectations. The service also exceeded my expectations. My group started with Chaupulines or Grasshopper tacos, and Queso Flameado which was cut and divided among four tortillas. We also had Cabrito/Goat, Barbacoa/Lamb, and Carnitas/Pork along with many great salsas and condiments. The Churros for dessert where amazing! Dulce the Leche and Chocolate! Oh, my! So awesome! Peru Express Cafe

Peru Express Cafe in Houston, Texas offers some of the tastiest food I have eaten. It was my first experience with Peruvian food and I just loved all the dishes, especially the lightly-breaded seafood platter. The salsas were quiet different than what I am used to, but bursting with flavor. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere casual, but best of all is the wonderful service. The 1940 Air Terminal Museum is based out of Houston’s first ever commercial airport. It is right next to Hobby Airport and Billionaire Buyer Tillman Fertitta’s Landry’s hospitality hanger. A little bird told me for $100,000 in gambling you can ride in the black helicopter to the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles. There is a lot of history regarding Braniff, Pan-Am, Eastern Airlines, etc. All of which no longer exist or have been absorbed. There is a hangar to check out planes and a nice Lockheed Lodestar outside on the tarmac to tour. If you love airlines, flying, or aviation history, or just history in general this is great stop. Houston Bicycle Museum

The Houston Bicycle Museum is a really great place to view racing bikes, BMX bikes, recumbent bikes, historical bikes, lowrider bikes, art bikes, etc. Interestingly, I just learned of their imminent closure until they find a new space. New spots for the museum have rent costs three times more expensive which could pose problems. They have to leave their current site by October 18, 2018 due to a parking lot expansion for the Holocaust Museum. I really hope they find funding and a new location because the history behind bikes is really amazing. If I were a billionaire, I would give them a million A.S.A.P., but sigh, I am not. For more information visit their website here http://www.houstonbicyclemuseum.org/
Here are a few photos from my visit and some of my favorite bikes. A chopper, a wooden one, an artsy one, a Asian style one, a musical one, a lowrider one, Lance Armstrong and Tour de France, and a room view.
