I met this swamp warrior this weekend at a crawfish boil. He brought a whole army of friends just like him. He was very happy to pose for a macro photo.

Spring time is a beautiful time of year. We come out of the freeze of winter and new life sprouts all around us. Birds sing, baby animals are born, and spring blossoms abound. Here are a few photos of Spring tree blossoms. I know one to be Redbuds, but the other three trees I am not sure of. If you know, please share in comments section.

December 2017 brought us three inches of snow and January 2018 has brought us Arctic temperatures of nineteen, sleet, ice, and flurries with wind chills in teens. Being a sub-tropical climate this is quite rare for us, but I do enjoy Houston’s Arctic Tundra. It definite lends itself to a time to take photos that I would not normally have the opportunity to shoot.

When I look back on the many great things in life, I always reflect on meals and the good times that are shared around them. There are so many cultures and things to eat that I sometimes wonder,” How does a person eat the same thing everyday?” I rarely eat the same dish in a year because there are so many tasty things to eat. I can attest that I have eaten with people of other religions and political philosophies. We do not agree on anything regarding those topics, but when we sit down to eat awesome food, there is nothing but smiles. God gives us food as a blessing for our hearts, mind, body, and soul. Some want to fight and wage war, I want to eat and enjoy the many great people and things in life. It is much easier to smile than frown. For those who share the same vision. Thank you for the joy you spread around the world. Here are a few of the meals I cooked this year that brought many smiles. If some of them puzzle you? Message me and I will tell you what they are or share a recipe. Bon Appetite!

Houston, Texas rarely receives snow. In fact it has been close to ten years since our last snow. Hurricane Ike hit us hard and the snow came that year. This time we had Hurricane Harvey and we again have snow. Do hurricanes bring snow? One would think based on observation. Since August we have had a monster hurricane, a world series win by the Houston Astros, a drought, and now snow from Big Bend all the way to Beaumont. Things in Texas change quickly and make for interesting history.
