Recently the band I play with had the privilege of playing the 33rd Annual Medina Lake Cajun Festival in LakeHills, Texas. The festival was well-managed and full of fun festive people. We had a great time! Here are some photos I took at the festival. Even though there is a drought that has caused a 97% reduction in lake water, the party is still happening.

Philadelphia has their LOVE art and it is very popular for photography. I am very proud that Houston, one of the fastest growing cities in America, now has its own art too. Our art piece is much bigger than Philadelphia. Everything is bigger in Texas!

WE LOVE HOUSTON

During my bike ride today, I noticed over three miles of trash along the bayou from heavy rains this weekend. It appalls me to hear people complain about oil companies, yet they don’t take time to throw away their own trash. This trash is polluting the globe at a phenomenal rate.  If I am correct, plastic takes over 80 years to degrade. People take your trash to the trash can! Stop ruining our waterways!

About Ten Yards of Trash Along A Three Mile Stretch

Last weekend I was in San Antonio, and I have been there hundreds of times, eating at many of the cities best Mexican restaurants. I did an internet search of best food in San Antonio and the name Chris Madrid’s ranked very high and it offered something besides Mexican food. Hamburgers!

I clicked the website http://www.chrismadrids.com/

Upon review of the website I thought, “It looks basic!” The story of entrepreneurship and the longevity of the place made me want to give it a try. I love independent business! It is the life of America.  I must say that when I arrived, I thought the place looked average.

This is the outside of Chris Madrid’s.

Upon entering Chris Madrid’s, I knew something special was about to present itself to me by the crowd of people sitting, and the long lines of people waiting to order food.

So I approach the menu and my eye catches a burger called the Tostada burger. This burger has refried beans, chips, salsa, meat, and cheese. I added my own pico de gallo. I opted for the 1/2 pound Macho size. This burger was HOT! I have never had a burger so fresh that my hands had trouble picking it up due to temperature. The meat was bursting with flavor, the cheese was flowing like lava, the beans, salsa, and chips inside gave it a crunch style in its own league. It was A plus, fantastic!

If you are in San Antonio, and want fantastic burgers, or nachos, do give Chris Madrid’s a try. I am a foodie with a taste for great food, and Chris Madrid’s has it going on. You will not be let down, and your stomach will not leave on empty. Chris Madrid’s is located less than three miles from the river walk and downtown San Antonio on Blanco and Hollywood.

The Iron Rattler at Fiesta Texas lives up to its bite, with a 171 foot drop at 81 degrees, a top speed of 70 m.p.h., a zero g barrel roll, camel backs, and some really cool over banked turns. I have ridden many coasters and I must say the Iron Rattler makes me feel as if I am on a wild bull. If you are brave and love thrills, the Iron Rattler will meet your needs.

I was cruising down San Pedro Avenue in San Antonio,Texas, when I happened upon these cool wall murals. The people who painted these are not gangsters, or taggers, they are artists.

Cajun Dance – A Haiku

Two step and waltzing

Joyous laughter all around

Laissez bons temps rouler friends.

2013 Albert Moyer, Jr.

This haiku was inspired by a gig my band played for the Cajun French Music Association of San Antonio this past weekend. It was a joyous time with gumbo, cakes, beverages, and dancing.

I took this photo while walking in the big Metropolis of Houston yesterday. If you seek you can actually find quiet serene places amongst the hustle and bustle that make you believe you are no longer surrounded by 4.5 million people.
