I took this photo, oops, I mean my wife took it while I held it at St. Andrews State Park in Florida. I was snorkeling and found a bunch of these urchins on a breakwater reef. If you look real close at the center you can see his teeth and mouth. I call them water porcupines. If you ever step on one, you will know what I mean.

This flower has such a cool name. Black Eyed Susans are not as ugly as a black eye at all. I took this photo along a highway in North Carolina.

I took this photo in Rocky Mount, North Carolina at the local city park. This canoe is a piece of art that someone made out of sticks.

So is this what you want to eat?

Diacetyl, Isoamyl acetate, Benzaldehyde, innamic aldehyde, Ethyl propionate, Methyl anthranilate, Limonene, Ethyl decadienoate, Allyl hexanoate, Ethyl maltol, Ethylvanillin, Methyl salicylate, Glutamic acid,  Guanylic acid,  Aspartame, Saccharin, Stevia, Sucralose, Brazzein, Curculin, Erythritol, Glycyrrhizin, Glycerol, Hydrogenated starch hydrolysates, Inulin Isomalt, Lactitol, Mogroside, Mabinlin, Maltitol, Mannitol, Miraculin, Monatin,Osladin, Pentadin, Sorbitol, Truvia, PureVia, steviol glycoside Tagatose, Thaumatin, Xylitol, Acesulfame potassium, Nutrinova, Alitame, azodicarbonamide, carbamide, potassium bromate,  propylene glycol, hexylene glycol, butylene glycol, and glyceryl triacetate.

These additives are man-made and only represent a fraction of the stuff placed in processed food. Some of them mix when you eat different types of processed food to form carcinogens and some are carcinogens.

Here is a more complete list.

Is there any wonder why we have more autism, A.D.D., food allergies, asthma, etc. The disease list get’s longer by the day. The drug companies love it too.

I would rather have beans, rice, tomatoes, potatoes, squash, corn, carrots, lettuce, onion, garlic, swiss chard, spinach, radishes, mustard greens, collard greens, peaches, apples, mangos, guavas, bananas, oranges, lemons, limes, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, grapes, cashews, almonds, avocados, jalapenos, etc. You get the picture. Nature food! I am sure that you recognize this list better than the list above as edible food.

It pays to read your food labels when you by food. In Texas, Blue Bell Ice Cream is a legend and everyone swears by it except this Texan. I prefer Haagen Daz because it is natural, true, ice cream.

Here are the ingredients of Haagen Daz Strawberry. Five ingredients!

Cream, skim milk, strawberries, sugar, egg yolks

Let’s examine Blue Bell Strawberry’s ingredients.

Oooops! Blue Bell doesn’t want you to know. It’s not online and their ingredients are subject to change.

So how about another popular brand Blue Bunny? Let’s see what’s in their strawberry ice cream.

INGREDIENTS: Milk, Cream, Skim Milk, Sugar, Strawberries, Strawberry Revel (Strawberries, Sugar, Water, Natural Flavors, Pectin, Citric Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Calcium Chloride, Blue 1 and Red 40), Corn Syrup, Contains 1% or less of the following: Carob Bean Gum, Guar Gum, Carragennan, Mono & Diglycerides, Cellulose Gel, Cellulose Gum, Natural Strawberry Flavor with Other Natural Flavors.
Oh, my! I lost count. Is it like 25 ingredients? Stuff we have never heard of? Shaving quality natural ingredients off to boost profits and wreck your health?

I tell you folks. Read your food labels. Eat nature, demand nature, because chemicals are not what you want to eat. Shoot even spell check recognizes

Some of the most common foods in Central America are Yucca Root, Plantains, Black Beans, and Chicken. Whether you are in Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, or across the sea in Cuba you will find these foods flavored to the particular country. These foods are tasty, healthy, loaded with fiber, and relatively simple to cook.

Today, I took advantage of that simplicity. Here I prepared roasted chicken, boiled yucca root, platanos, and frijoles negros (AKA Black Beans).
