Here is a great place to swim and snorkel in the summer. The water is 72 degrees year round, crystal clear, and teaming with underwater wildlife. This is my favorite pool in Texas because it is natural, made of limestone, and varies in depth from inches on one end, to over 25ft deep in another.

To learn more about the pool, hours, fees,  or it’s history follow this link.   http://austintexas.gov/department/barton-springs-pool

Here are a few photos I took at the pool. I hope they inspire you to visit.

I took this photo of a hibernating bat at Longhorn Caverns State Park. I am not sure if it is a brown bat or a pipestrelle bat.

State parks are the best value and some of the most beautiful places a person can visit. Here is another favorite of mine. This park is named Inks Lake State Park in Burnet, Texas.  You can read about it here.  http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/inks-lake

It has some great animal viewing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, tubing, photography opportunities, or whatever your mind can imagine.

Here are a few photos I took inside the park. I hope they inspire you to visit.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my work.

It has some of the best animal viewing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, tubing, photography opportunities, or whatever your mind can imagine.

This photo was taken near Galveston, Texas, by another photographer, in one of the musicians yards that I have played with in the past. I learned the mother had four eggs, but only two chicks made it. Killdeers are cool because they run fast like roadrunners and they are pretty.

Owl butterflies are known for their huge eye spots on their wings. I took this photo at Cockrell Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

This photo was taken by me at Hermann Park pond in Houston. Humans can learn something from ducks. Do you notice how this mother is with her children and she has an eye on them?

This is why I never see too much above my head, or sometimes even in front of me when hiking in the South. You always have to be wary of poisonous snakes below.

My copper pattern warns you

Please don’t tread on me.

I could not resist taking this photo because I have never seen the two so close together. Is the gator a friend or waiting for supper? Only he knows.

Photo taken in New Iberia, LA.
