Tabasco Sauce Factory

Posted: May 11, 2013 in Photography, Travel

One of my favorite hot sauce places is the Tabasco Sauce Factory in Avery Island, LA. Why would that be? I love hot sauce and I LOVE Tabasco. Upon touring one will learn the secrets of making Tabasco Hot Sauce which takes over three years. You will learn that it is shipped worldwide and bottles are labeled in different languages. In fact, China is one of the largest foreign importers of Tabasco.

There are free samples of jalapeno ice cream and hot pepper soda that you cannot get anywhere else. There is a country store to purchase anything Tabasco, and you’re in the heart of Cajun country. What could not be better than that? Oh! And Jungle Gardens is right next door. http://junglegardens.org/

This is another fun thing to do if you are in the area and love traveling. http://www.tabasco.com/avery-island/visitor-information/

Here are some of my photos that I have taken at the factory.

And let me tell you folks! Even the fish catch fire when they eat a Tabasco Pepper.

And all around the surrounding area one will see fields of sugar cane.

Having a hobby as a musician, I am often privileged to special parties and events. A few years back, I took several photos at the Lone Star Flight Museum http://www.lsfm.org/index.html  in Galveston, Texas while playing for the U.S.S. Texas Submarine Commissioning party for the United States Navy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Texas_%28SSN-775%29

The museum has a great collection of vintage war planes. If you want to do a draw down on your wallet, they also offer plane rides in a few selected aircraft.

So if you’re in Galveston, Texas, make a trip over to the museum, and learn a little about the history of flight.

Here are a few photos from the museum.

One of the most relaxing enjoyable rides is on a train. In the East Texas piney woods, between Rusk and Palestine, we have the Texas State Railroad. https://www.texasstaterr.com/

If you are ever clamoring for a weekend trip from Houston, I highly recommend riding the train through the woods.

I took these photos while on the Engine 300 steam locomotive.

I took these photos at Goliad State Park in Goliad, Texas. This is site of the Goliad Massacre. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goliad_massacre, and the Battle Of Goliad http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Goliad

Always learn and remember history to avoid a repeat.

If you are in Texas, or visiting Texas, I highly recommend Goliad State Park http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/goliad

In Houston, on the Northside of downtown, there is a place that has held my heart for many years. This place is Canino’s Farmers Market located at 2520 Airline Drive,  Houston, TX 77009. Canino’s has everything that one can imagine in the way of fresh produce and vegetables at about 25 to 40% less than retail grocery prices. Much of what Canino’s offers is locally grown in Texas. It is a great place to explore, save money, purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, dry beans, rice, nuts, flowers, and local raw honey and preserves. During my trip yesterday, I asked if I could take photos and share them on my blog. The manager graciously approved. So here are some images from Canino’s Farmers Market.

One of the more interesting places to enjoy a weekend in Texas is the Renaissance Festival located in Plantersville, Texas. This festival is held in the fall so the heat doesn’t kill anybody. When you enter the festival you enter another world. It is like a complete time warp. There are so many different things to see, feel, hear, and taste. My favorite is the men on horses doing live jousting. I could write so much, but I like to let people research on their own. For more information check out http://texrenfest.com/

Here are some photos I have taken at the festival. The characters and patrons are very kind and love to pose.  Enjoy!

Last summer, I visited San Pedro Springs  in San Antonio, Texas, because I was intrigued that it has lasted so long. This park was opened in 1852, making it the oldest park in Texas. On a hot summers day, the shallow water pool is a blessing. The spring water is no longer coming from the spring, because the spring has dried up. The water is now pumped in to the pool, but don’t let that be a detraction. Experience the history, the culture, grab a churro http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Churro from a vendor, and enjoy the day. I was face to face with this Barbary Sheep, also known as Aoudad at Nature Bridge Wildlife Park http://wildliferanchtexas.com/ It is a fantastic wildlife park allowing animals to freely roam, and come up to you if they wish. It’s one of my favorite places to shoot photos of wild animals.

This is my favorite water coaster where you are driven up hill by water pressure. Master Blaster is located at Schlitterbahn New Braunfels, the #1 water park in America.

One of the best times of year in Texas is Spring. The temperatures are mild and the wild flowers are in bloom. This was taken in Brenham, Texas. Brenham has some of the best bluebonnets and is home to Blue Bell Ice Cream.
