Canino’s Farmers Market

In Houston, on the Northside of downtown, there is a place that has held my heart for many years. This place is Canino’s Farmers Market located at 2520 Airline Drive, Houston, TX 77009. Canino’s has everything that one can imagine in the way of fresh produce and vegetables at about 25 to 40% less than retail grocery prices. Much of what Canino’s offers is locally grown in Texas. It is a great place to explore, save money, purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, dry beans, rice, nuts, flowers, and local raw honey and preserves. During my trip yesterday, I asked if I could take photos and share them on my blog. The manager graciously approved. So here are some images from Canino’s Farmers Market.
Reflections on a Homosexual Sermon

During church this morning we had a sermon on homosexuality. You may disagree or agree, but be polite about it. This is a hot topic that is literally dividing America. Nothing has caused more division since the civil war than abortion and homosexuality.
I am accepting of all view points. I might not agree or disagree with you, but I believe in a man’s right to speak.
This is a summary of our pastor’s biblical and researched truths presented this morning.
Let’s take a look at what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians Chapter 6 about sexual immorality.
Sexual Immorality
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
12 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. 13 You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”[b] 17 But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.[c]
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
Where we are as a society is represented in this cartoon.
So we as a society are pushing abnormal as normal. If you repeat over and over that abnormal is normal what you get is something like this analogy. A man is in a boat and it is full of people. The man decides to start drilling a hole in the boat. Another person observes this and says,”Hey, what are you doing drilling a hole in the boat? This is bad.” The other man then says,”Mind your own business. Go to the other side of the boat. You are intolerant of my drilling, and I am harming no one.”
The problem is, as you can see in your imagination, the water is going to flood the whole boat, touch everyone, and then the boat is going to sink.
So you see Christians have to hate the sin of homosexuality, but we love all homosexuals, and they are welcome to change, be redeemed, and turn against their sins. However, homosexuals are not welcome to teach, persuade others, and be actively gay in church. People like this are destroyers and work for satan.
Why Christians fight normalizing and allowing gay marriage
Christians fight gay marriage because it redefines what is true. Without objective truth, one has lies and chaos. Sounds like the World today doesn’t it? There are people already lined up ready to push for polygamy and pedophilia. When you allow one sin to take over, you have opened up a hole in the boat.
In countries around the World, that have allowed gay marriage, there are laws against speaking against it. It is criminal. Religious liberty has been lost in those lands. It has been thrown away.
Do not be deceived that this sin is o.k. It’s like Eve selling Adam the apple. We all know the problems that has caused. The worst thing a person can do to anyone is tell them a lie is truth.
Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, and Buddhists know that a traditional family is a man and woman. These religions know that marriage is between a man and woman.
This is where the fight lies regarding gay marriage with Christians, and I know from talking to people of other faiths, they agree with Christians.
Is society going to be defined by a truth or a lie?
So how does one become Gay?
We know through scientific research and a complete map of the DNA strand that there is no gay gene. This means a person is not born this way. Lady Gaga got it wrong. So what are the ways a person becomes gay?
Self-Will: That means it’s a conscious choice. Media, culture, pornography, low expectations, spousal abuse, unhealthy family relationships, and weak father-child relationships to name a few. This makes sense because we have seen a growing percentage of homosexuals in society, parallel with the growing number of unhealthy relationships and broken families.
After talking to homosexuals, and watching how the gay lifestyle operates, one will realize that every gay person is introduced to the lifestyle. There is active solicitation.
No baby comes out of the womb stating,”I want to be gay. A lawyer. A doctor. A drug addict. Prostitute, etc.” What happens to that baby will be shaped by environment and the choices the baby makes as an adult.
So what are the health ramifications of homosexuality?
Homosexuals are 23 times more likely than heterosexuals to suffer disease.
Their life expectancy is cut 33 years short. In fact, the average life expectancy is 41 years old. Smoking only cuts ones life short by seven years on average in comparison.
What is not publicized, that should be on billboards and in schools, is that only 1% of homosexuals die of old age. 99% dies of the lifestyle. Sin is deadly.
In my personal life during college, I had connections with two females who entered the lesbian lifestyle. One was molested at a young age, and another was raped at around ten years old. Both were nice to talk with and be around, but as they told me, they just didn’t feel comfortable around men anymore. Of course neither were willing to join me in church. They chose the path of man and society. The last I heard from one of them, she was heavily into marijuana, alcohol, and constantly changing partners. This is another common problem of homosexuality. It has serious health ramifications!
So can a homosexual be a Christian?
A homosexual Christian may believe everything regarding love and biblical justice, but Jesus states if you love me you will keep my commandments. Whether your a regular thief, murderer, adulterer, prostitute, or homosexual, God calls us to change our ways. Our ways signal to others whether we are Christian or not.
So, if you actively participate in the gay lifestyle, or any other sin on a regular basis, you are not a Christian. If you turn from your ways, repent, ask God for forgiveness, and practice biblical truths, then you are a Christian.
It’s really that simple and clear.
So what does one do to counter the Gay marriage movement?
1. Avoid the homosexual lifestyle because it is learned behavior.
2. Hate homosexual sin, but not the person.
3. Do not tolerate sin.
4. Use your voting power to stop sinful legislation.
5. Never believe that gay marriage is a right. It is a sin.
6. Teach your children that homosexuality is a sin.
8. Encourage others to stand strong against this sin.
9. Make sure you align yourself with biblical values.
Final Thoughts
So we know that biblically homosexuality is a learned sin, the causes are from sin, and the lifestyle causes unhealthy relationships and health. We know that homosexuals can choose to confront their sins and change if it is in their hearts to do so. We know that there is a battle going on for the very seed of family truth. We know society will be defined by truth or sin. Let’s all hope we stick with truth, or things as we know it will only get worse.
