Brown Anole

Posted: May 2, 2013 in Photography, Reptiles

I am thinking this is some kind of Anole from a foreign land, or someone’s pet lizard escaped. I took this photo on my window ledge. I have never seen them before in Houston until the last year or so.

Anybody know what it is?

Updated: I found the answer it is a Brown Anole common to Florida with isolated populations in Texas.

This photo was taken at my parent’s home awhile back. This is a bottle brush, and I love their vibrant red colors.

One of the best smelling and most beautiful plants is a plumeria. I took this photo at my parent’s house several years ago. Flowers die, but photos are forever.

Small Brown Frogs

I am not sure what kind of frogs these little guys are, but I was really impressed at how they camouflage. They may be some type of wood frog. If you know, please share their name in a comment. Look closely at the photo and you will see two of them.

I took this photo at the Houston Arboretum.

Coral Snake

Posted: May 2, 2013 in Photography, Reptiles

The rule of thumb for avoiding a poisonous coral snake is RED touch YELLOW kill a fellow, RED touch BLACK friend of jack. This referring to the bands on the snake. As you see in this photo it is red touch yellow. A big four to five foot long coral snake. Personally, I find them relatively harmless and reclusive. If you get bitten by a coral snake, you were holding or molesting it.

I took this photo at the Houston Arboretum. He was on the run when he sensed my presence.

This photo was taken by me at the Houston Arboretum.  Many people confuse these for water moccasins or cottonmouths. This snake is harmless.

Magical Woman

Magical Woman

Her hair is dark

Her eyes brown

She’s fabulous

To be around

Her skin is smooth

And her lips full

The brain she has

Is her best tool

When your’re down

She’ll lift you  up

Inside you will bubble

Like Seven-Up

When she’s close

She feels so warm

Inside of me

I feel transformed

She’s a magical woman

That I know

For in my veins

Her love flows

The Octopus

Eight arms to catch prey

Silently hiding in reefs

Inks! He got away.
