One of my favorite places in the World is the wilderness. There is so much to do,  see, touch, hear, smell, and sometimes taste  for those who want to open their eyes and look.

One of the more interesting places to enjoy a weekend in Texas is the Renaissance Festival located in Plantersville, Texas. This festival is held in the fall so the heat doesn’t kill anybody. When you enter the festival you enter another world. It is like a complete time warp. There are so many different things to see, feel, hear, and taste. My favorite is the men on horses doing live jousting. I could write so much, but I like to let people research on their own. For more information check out http://texrenfest.com/

Here are some photos I have taken at the festival. The characters and patrons are very kind and love to pose.  Enjoy!

This is a prickly pear cactus photo I took at Guadalupe River State Park in Hunt, Texas. I might add that the fruits and cactus are delicious. Watch for rattlesnakes.

I took this photo in Rocky Mount, North Carolina at the local city park. This canoe is a piece of art that someone made out of sticks.

Located in San Antonio, Texas is a huge rollercoaster with more camel back humps than one can imagine. The name of this coaster is Steel Eel. This rollercoaster seems to expand almost half the length of SeaWorld. The Steel Eel is three minutes of pure exhilaration! From the acceleration of the first drop, to the last little camel back hump, one will be glad that they are strapped in at the thighs with a lap bar. At the top of every hump, one is thrown up out of their seat, as if being on a saddle of a bucking bronco. Your hair flies in the almost tropical storm force breeze generated by the 65 mp.h. top speed.  With a 15o foot first drop, it is the tallest coaster at any SeaWorld park. If you love coasters, give it a spin.

There are many views and photos of The Alamo, but this one I took is a rarity. Nobody every thinks to look between the trees and shoot from the side.

I took this photo at Bogue Chitto State Park in Louisiana. I do not know the flowers name, but it is beautiful. Perhaps someone can comment and  identify it.

Last summer, I visited San Pedro Springs  in San Antonio, Texas, because I was intrigued that it has lasted so long. This park was opened in 1852, making it the oldest park in Texas. On a hot summers day, the shallow water pool is a blessing. The spring water is no longer coming from the spring, because the spring has dried up. The water is now pumped in to the pool, but don’t let that be a detraction. Experience the history, the culture, grab a churro http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Churro from a vendor, and enjoy the day.
